Visit Annecy in 1 day
Are you passing through Annecy for the day?
We an only recommend that you spend a few days in our little Venice of the Alps, but we know that some visitors are just passing through. In order to maximise your time and make the most of your stay in Annecy, here is a list of places that we think are a must see! 🤗
Before you go, a word of advice: Bring your camera📸 and share them using hashtags : #annecylac #annecyalacarte #lacannecydecouvertes #ilakeannecy #lacannecy #annecy #annecyfrance #topannecy 😉
In terms of transport, the city centre of Annecy is quickly saturated… (even more so in high season). 😬) We advise you to use your legs, public transport and bicycles to make your visit easier: Cyclable, Roul’ ma Poule and many others are at your disposal for a day’s equipment hire. 🚴♀️

Annecy’s must-sees in 1 day :
-
Annecy’s heart:
Let yourself be seduced by the charm of the cobbled streets of the old town. Magnificent buildings with colourful facades, most of them dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, canals and stone bridges… no wonder it is called the “Venice of the Alps”.😌
Are you hungry? Head to Rue du Pâquier for a pancake or waffle break! Two addresses we love: the Châlet à Crêpes and Chez Gaston ! 😉
-
A bit of history and culture:
Organise your walk in Annecy to discover its famous museums: the Palais de l’Île (The most photographed monument in Annecy !) and the Musée-Château are two must-sees for anyone wanting to learn more about the history of their town and lake.
Bonus: the castle offers a breathtaking view over the city of Annecy 😉
For fans of animated films, there is a museum dedicated to them on the Avenue de Trésum (about an 8-minute walk from the Château). Did you know that Annecy hosts the International Festival of Animated Film every year ? 😆

The market :
If you’re lucky, you’ll have the opportunity to sample our local produce by visiting one of our markets. The old town welcomes its stallholders on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings, while on Boulevard Taine (a few minutes from the town centre) you’ll find Annecy’s favourite Saturday morning market ! 🧀
-
The lake :
If the weather is fine and you’d like to see the lake up close, put on your walking shoes and head for the Roc de Chère Nature Reserve, located about 15 minutes from Annecy. Situated on the eastern shore of the lake, this small mountain range is made up of forest paths and viewpoints that offer a beautiful view of the small lake, which is not visible from Annecy. 🏔
-
The “Jardins de l’Europe”, the “Pont des Amours” and the “Pâquier”:
At the end of the day, you can go to the large lawn of the “Pâquier” for a moment of relaxation by the lake. Go past the “Jardins de l’Europe” and the “Pont des Amours” (an authentic symbol of Annecy). Stop there to take a photo of the boats lining the banks of the Vassé canal. According to legend, lovers kissing on this bridge are united forever. 🔒
From the Pâquier, you can admire the view of the lake and enjoy a stunning sunset 🌅 For the record, its name means “pasture” in Savoyard and dates back to the Middle Ages when it was still in use.
Where to eat lunch ?
As far as the palate is concerned, Annecy is full of small culinary treasures. On the menu, raclette, fondue and tartiflette, but not only…: Diots, crozets or even blueberry tart or rissoles for dessert 😋.
A few good places to sample our local gastronomy : Le Fréti Le Fréti for the best fondues in town or the bistrot des tilleuls where you can enjoy a variety of dishes and local beers.
